Gopher Invitational Final Results
Wayzata, Minn. - The UW men's golf team completed its first competition of the year at the Gopher Invitational tying for 10th with a 304-308-323--935. Louisiana State, also the Gopher Invitational team champion in 2008, became the first repeat winner in the history of the event by shooting a 54-hole score of 869 (301-281-287) to defeat Kent State by 11 strokes. Arkansas (889) finished third by one stroke over Charlotte (890) and three shots over fifth place Lamar (892).
Kent State's John Hahn took home medalist honors with a 54-hole score of 206 to win by six strokes over Arkansas' Sebastian Cappelen. LSU's Clayton Rotz carded a third round 66, the lowest round of the invite, to finish third.
Wisconsin's top finisher was newcomer Stephane Dubois who finished tied for 18th with an eight-over par 71-74-79--224. Michael Sorenson finished 32nd with a 231; Anthony Aicher tied for 39th with a 234; Christopher Meyer playing his first UW tournament tied for 56th with a 249 and Thomas Welk tied for 59th with a 254.
The Badgers next participate in the Louisville Invitational at The Cardinal Club in Louisville, Ken. Sept. 19-20.
