MADISON, Wis. -- The Badgers men's spring golf schedule was approved recently. UW will visit Florida, South Carolina, and two Big Ten cities prior to the Big Ten Championships which takes place at the French Lick Resort in French Lick, Ind.
The spring will kick off with the annual Big Ten Match Play Tournament Feb. 10-11 on the PGA National Course in Coral Springs, Fla.
UW returns to South Carolina March 25-27 for the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate Championships hosted by South Carolina at the Bulls Bay Golf Club in Awenden, S.C. UW visited Kiawah Island, S.C. during its fall campaign.
The Badgers will participate April 14-15 in the Hawkeye-TaylorMade Invitational at Finkbine Golf Course on the Iowa City campus. And will be part of the Boilermaker Invitational April 21-22 hosted by Purdue on the Kampen Course in West Lafayette, Ind.
April culminates April 27-29 in the 72-hole Big Ten Men's Golf Championships which take place in a new location this year. Both the men's and women's conference meets will be held at the southern Indiana resort of French Lick, Ind. Both championships will be held here in 2012, 2013, and 2014 and it marks the first time that both the men and women will compete at the same time and on a neutral site.
The men’s championships will be contested on the award-winning Pete Dye course, and the women’s event will be held on the historic Donald Ross Course. Golfweek Magazine recently ranked the Dye course No. 1 and the Ross course No. 2 among the “Best Courses You Can Play” rankings in the state of Indiana.
The Pete Dye course, which was named America’s Best New Public Course in 2009 by Golf Digest, is regarded as one of the most breathtaking and exciting 18 holes of golf in the country. The course was carefully carved on a dramatic hilltop offering a variety of elevation changes, rugged and dramatic terrain, narrow fairways and challenging bunkers. There are spectacular views from every hole, some that stretch for over 40 miles.
