Kiawah Island, S.C. - Wisconsin men's golf is in 15th place after round one of the Kiawah Island Intercollegiate with a 30-over par 318. Campbell is in the lead with a 4-over par 292. Minnesota, the only other Big Ten university in the tournament, is tied for 11th place with a 313.
Leading the Badgers is Thomas O'Bryan, tied for 17th after the first 18 holes with a 3-over par 75. Coming in first place after round one is Campbell's Vaita Guillaume, with a 3-under par 69.
"We are very proud of freshman, Thomas O'Bryan's round today," said head coach Michael Burcin. "Turtle Point is one of the toughest tests in college golf and he showed composure beyond his years."
Chris Meyer is tied for 48th place with a 79, Brady Keegan is tied for 69th with an 81, Anthony Aicher is tied for 80th with an 83 and Thomas Welk is tied for 93rd with an 85.
"Overall our handling of the conditions was not very good," said Burcin. "The positive is this golf course rewards par, and with a solid day tomorrow, we can be in position to have a solid event come Tuesday."
Play continues with 18 holes on Monday and Tuesday for rounds two and three. Follow live golf action at golfstat.com.
