MADISON, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin women’s soccer coaching staff is inviting area youth soccer players to take part in the program’s summer camps throughout the month of July.
Head coach Paula Wilkins and assistants Patrick Farmer and Tim Rosenfeld are hosting four different camps that accommodate players of all ages. This premier coaching staff has developed three NCAA Herman Player of the Year Award winners and runner-ups, six first-team All-America selections, nine Big Ten Championships and several Olympic and World Cup players.
The first camp of the summer is the Girls Soccer Academy Camp, July 7-10.
An overnight camp for ages 12-17, it is designed to prepare players to compete and train at a higher level. Sessions focus on technique development as well as teamwork and special team tactics and strategy. An additional area of concentration is the development of positional skills through practices designed to improve positional awareness and understanding. Specialized goalkeeper training will also be provided. There is also a team option for this camp, details of which can be found on the camp brochure above.
For children of a younger age, the UW staff is hosting a Boys/Girls Soccer Day Camp, July 18-22.
This camp, for ages 4-12, provides girls and boys an opportunity to focus on fundamental skill instruction in a fun and relaxed setting. The camp boasts an excellent coach-to-camper ratio and features small groups that focus on individual technique and small-sided games. Campers will have the opportunity to work first-hand with Wisconsin men's and women's soccer players and coaches. It will be a great opportunity to learn more about soccer while having a fun experience.
A pair of Elite Training Camps, from July 24-26 and July 27-29, close out the month.
The Elite Training Camp is intended for players who are between the ages of 14-17 and are driven to train and compete at the collegiate level. Strength training, video analysis and positional training are examples of sessions provided. Enrollment is limited to 64 participants per camp to ensure the most optimal training environment possible. Under the direction of Rosenfeld, the Elite Training Camps will also provide specific goalkeeper training sessions. As a result, enrollment is limited to eight goalkeepers per camp.
For more information on the camps, see the brochure above or contact Coach Rosenfeld via email at TMR@athletics.wisc.edu or by phone at 608-265-4732.
