Coach Pete Waite quotes vs. South Florida
InnTowner Invitiational, Madison, Wis.
Opening statement:
"We had a little bit of a slow start when we got down 0-4 but that's kind of expected the first time in front of the home crowd in three weeks and we were almost trying to be too perfect. Once we settled down, we had nice momentum and were able to figure out South Florida a little bit. On video, South Florida is a solid team. Even talking to their coach, she doesn't know what happened to her team."
"Being here at home, we starting playing really well together. I was happy to see our middle blockers really get some good numbers today with Dom (Thompson) and Alexis (Mitchell), something we've been working on with our setters to get them the ball more."
On the middle attack:
"We had to balance our attack better. We had been going too much to the outsides, so we've been really working on it in practice. Kudos to the passing because we were able to run the middles, and then to the setters for getting the ball to the middles."
On the next two games in the tournament:
"These two teams are tough. Western Michigan just flies around the court and they are a smaller team, but they are fast and tenacious. Notre Dame took care of them tonight, but not easily. They are both very strong teams, so we are really going to have to play our best to get those matches."
