PARK RIDGE, Ill. -- Junior Anthony Aicher was named the Co-Big Ten Golfer of the Week for his play at the Louisville Cardinal Intercollegiate where he posted a 36-hole score of 2-under par 142. Robert Bell of Minnesota was also honored for finishing in fifth place at the Fighting Irish Classic with a career-best 214.
Aicher, who has led UW in its two tournaments this fall, finished in fifth place at the rain-shortened tournament. He carded a 3-under 69 in the first round, adding a 1-over 73 in Round 2. He led Wisconsin to third place in the 18-team field, the team’s best tournament finish since 2008.
A Wausau native, this is the first conference weekly golf award of his career. He was named Academic All-Big Ten in 2011.
The last Wisconsin Golfer of the Week was Dan Woltman on April 22, 2009.
