Recap | Box Score
Wisconsin head coach Bobbie Kelsey
I am very proud of our group. We worked hard this week to prepare for a great Minnesota team. They are very good shooters, penetrators and they do share the ball. We had an opportunity here and we wanted to capitalize on it and I am very proud of our team for persevering through a tough game.
On the importance of the Badgers’ opening scoring run:
We always emphasize that when you come into someone else’s place you have to get a good start. Being at home and having a good crowd gives the home team confidence. We had to really come out and play from the beginning of the game. We couldn’t dig ourselves a hole. It was good for us to come out and we try to do that every game and it doesn’t always happen. We’ve gotten much better at it this last couple games.
On attacking the perimeter:
We are more of a guard oriented team. We don’t have a lot of post players. We really have to get our guards going and they do a good job of it. We have a lot of them and they all contribute in a different way and they all play their role very well.
On Anya Covington’s play:
Anya has really come on here. This was a great game for her to showcase what she can do. We always knew she could. When she is called upon to get the ball and score on the block, she does that for us. You always need an inside-out game.
