MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin women’s openweight and lightweight rowing teams held their annual Class Day event on Saturday morning. However, due to the inclement weather the crews decided against rowing on Lake Mendota.
Instead the class day turned into a meet and greet for current student-athlete and rowing alumnae. The day started with tours of the Porter Boathouse for the former rowers.
The current rowers, from both the lightweight and openweight teams, had a chance to speak about their experiences as Badger student-athletes. The former Badgers then shared what rowing at Wisconsin meant and still means to them.
“Although we couldn’t get on the water, it was a great time to share stories, some history of the program, and to stay warm,” head coach Bebe Bryans said.
Both the openweight and lightweight teams will hit the water in early October for the Head of the Rock regatta in Rockford, Ill., on Oct. 14.
