Wisconsin Athletics names first Fan Advisory Council

MADISON, Wis. -- Twenty-five individuals have been named to the University of Wisconsin Athletic Department’s first Fan Advisory Council, it was announced Thursday.
The group will gather for its first meeting with UW Athletics officials on Monday, Nov. 25, at 6 p.m. in Heritage Hall at Camp Randall Stadium.
“We are thrilled to welcome this group of Wisconsin fans to the initial Fan Advisory Council,” UW Associate Athletic Director for External Relations Justin Doherty said. “We are very much looking forward to mutually beneficial conversation and we see a great opportunity for education and collaboration.”
UW Athletics received nearly 800 applications to be a part of the Fan Advisory Council. Twenty-five were chosen with an intent to put together a group that represented a wide variety of the ticket-buying public who attend Badger athletic events. The group is scheduled to meet three times before a new council is chosen.
The first Fan Advisory Council includes 14 men and 11 women; 17 UW-Madison alumni and six non-alumni (plus two who are current students); 14 who live within 30 miles of Madison, seven who are “non-local,” but live in Wisconsin and four from out of state; and eight who have been season ticket holders for five years or less in addition to eight who have been season ticket holders for at least 15 years.
The 25 members of the first group are: Scott Aulinskis (Western Springs, Ill.), Melissa Bright (Fitchburg), Colleen Chase (Fitchburg), Mark Courchane (Madison), Ken Falkinham (Wadsworth, Ill.), Kim Frome (Colby), Barbara Gessner (Madison), Gregory Gordon (Madison), Nancy Hilton (Madison), Patricia Kendall (Cambridge), Ken Kruska (Deerfield), James Lund (Madison), Michael Manley (Rockford, Ill.), James Martell (Chicago, Ill.), Brad Meier (Middleton), Beth Olson (Middleton), Terri Leigh Rhody (Portage), Ben Saxon (Madison), Nicole Schrier (Lake Mills), Michael Slepica (Oregon), Hannah Somers (Madison), William Spangler (Altoona), Todd Taylor (Merrimac), Nancy Thomas (Mount Horeb) and Greg Wise (Baraboo).
