MADISON, Wis. – While there were many offensive highlights for the Wisconsin men’s hockey team in Friday’s 7-1 defeat of Penn State, Tyler Barnes’ no-look, between-the-legs finish stood above the rest and has recently been featured on top-play segments on ESPN, Fox Sports 1 and NCAA.com.
The goal staked the Badgers a 4-1 lead and had the NCAA saying that the tally “must be seen to be believed” after the play checked in at No. 1 in its Top-5 Plays of the Week for men’s hockey.
The goal also ranked eighth in SportsCenter’s nightly top-10 on Friday as well as second on Fox Sports 1’s top-plays for Friday.
Deadspin also blogged about the goal, with Samer Kalaf calling it both “filthy” and “beautiful”.
TheSportsPickle.com featured the goal as well, and was just as impressed with Wisconsin play-by-play announcer Brian Posick’s “soprano goal call”.
