MADISON, Wis. -- For the third time this season, a Wisconsin women’s hockey freshman earned WCHA Rookie of the Week honors, as Baylee Wellhausen collected the honor on Tuesday after leading the Badgers to a sweep last weekend.
Wellhausen, a native of Williams Bay, joins fellow freshmen Annie Pankowski and Emily Clark as UW recipients of the award this year.
In Wisconsin’s 2-1 win over Bemidji State on Friday, Wellhausen tallied the game-winning goal midway through the second period. In UW’s 4-3 triumph over BSU on Saturday, Wellhausen recorded an assist to help the Badgers extend their program-best road winning streak to 15 games.
During the series, Wellhausen was +2 and had a shooting percentage of .333.
Wellhausen and the No. 3 Badgers hit the road this weekend to face No. 10 North Dakota. Faceoff on Friday is set for 7 p.m., while Saturday’s tilt starts at 3 p.m.
