EVANSTON, Ill. -- In its final game of the regular season, the Wisconsin men's soccer team was shut out, 2-0, by No. 16 Northwestern at Lakeside Field on Wednesday.
The Badgers entered the match playing their third straight ranked opponent, and had just tied No. 2 Indiana at home in double overtime, 2-2. While Wisconsin (3-11-3, 0-7-1 Big Ten) outshot the Wildcats, 11-5, it was unable to find the net and was shut out for just the fourth time this season.
Freshman goalkeeper Adrian Remeniuk earned the start and made two saves, but was beat twice on the night and allowed a pair of goals in the loss.

"Compliment to Northwestern and their coaching staff. They've got a fine group and they're a good team," UW head coach John Trask said. "They've got an older and more mature team and it showed. They countered us early in the game on a mistake and made us pay for it, then turned around and got us again at the beginning of the second half."
Both NU scores came on the foot of junior forward Joey Calistri, who paced the Wildcats (9-3-5, 4-1-3) offensively and scored one goal in each half.
Calistri's first goal came just over 10 minutes into the game, as he took an assist from Eric Weberman and Jeffrey Hopson and scored in the 11th minute to give NU an early 1-0 lead.
The second goal came in the 50th minute, again on a double assist from Weberman and Sam Forsgren.
For Wisconsin, eight different Badgers recorded shots. Jacob Brindle and Anders Kristensen led the way with two shots each. Both of Brindle's shots were shots on goal.
It was not enough to get past NU goalkeeper Tyler Miller, however, who recorded six saves on the night and earned the shutout.
Wisconsin is guaranteed one final game this season in the Big Ten tournament. The No. 9 seed Badgers will play No. 8 seed Rutgers in a first round play-in game on Saturday at noon (CT) in College Park, Maryland.
