Dual Quotes: Wisconsin vs. Indiana

Recap

Dec. 11, 2014

Wisconsin vs. Indiana
UW Fieldhouse - Madison, Wis.

Assistant Coach Kyle Ruschell
On highlights of the match:
"Isaac Jordan of course. He has wrestled him (Taylor Walsh) two or three times and the kid is goofy. So he had to wrestle really basic and he wrestled smart. He didn't let the kid do awkward things to him and he just wrestled well. Beating a third-ranked guy in the country at home is always a good thing."

On the shutout:
"What it says is that every single one of our guys wrestled complete matches. We came in here knowing that it is our second home dual and we don't have too many of them, so our guys came in ready to go. That is what happens when every single guy wrestlers every single minute of the match."

On going into Nebraska:
"I think it gives some of our guys more confidence that they can wrestle with the best guys. The Big Ten is the Big Ten. I think they are ready for Nebraska, they just need to keep this ball rolling."

No. 7 Isaac Jordan
On winning over an opponent ranked higher than him:
"I wrestled him before so I kind of knew what he was going to do. I watched a lot of tape on him so I worked on a few things. A win is always good."

On the challenges he was expecting:
"He is a pretty funky wrestler. He has a lot of big moves. He pins a lot of guys so I had to be smart and pay attention."

On his strengths in the match:
"I thought I could ride him which I did for most of the second period. He got away at the end, which is something I need to work on. I think I need to work on my offense more."

No. 5 Connor Medbery
On the team's performance overall:
"This is a big victory for us. I think we all wrestled really well tonight, obviously. We got a team shutout, which is not something we have done here at Wisconsin since I've been here. It is definitely a great team win. We had quite a few big matches."

On the shut out win going into Nebraska:
"I think that is a huge factor. Every time you get a win it adds to your confidence but going into a big weekend, there will be a lot of close match-ups and tight wins that we will need to get in the third period. Having these wins under our belt will definitely help."
