OMAHA, Neb. -- Two freshmen found the back of the net for the first time in exhibition play, but it was not enough for the No. 21 Wisconsin men's soccer team, which fell 4-2 to Creighton in exhibition play at Morrison Stadium on Friday night.
Mike Catalano and Nikola Atlija each scored their first goals of the preseason for the Badgers, helping generate four shots on goal and six total shots for UW. The offensive flurry of the Bluejays proved too much to overcome, however, as Creighton outshot UW 14-to-6 and generated eight corner kicks over the course of the night.
After Creighton jumped out to a 2-0 lead by halftime, Catalano scored on a penalty kick in the 51st minute and helped the Badgers trim the lead to just one goal. Ricky Lopez-Espin had the response for CU and scored a pair of goals himself to snub any potential comeback from the Badgers.
Atlija scored his goal in the 82nd minute from just inside the top of the box unassisted and brought the game to its 4-2 final score.

With both Atlija and Catalano scoring, it marked back-to-back exhibition matches in which UW newcomers have scored. Tom Barlow netted UW's game-winning goal in its 1-0 exhibition win over the University of Illinois-Chicago last Sunday in Madison.
Fellow freshman Adrian Remeniuk earned his second straight start at goalkeeper for the Badgers, recording four saves over the course of the game.
Wisconsin has one final road test on its preseason schedule, as the Badgers travel to face defending national champion and preseason No. 1 Notre Dame in an exhibition on Monday, Aug. 25.
