MADISON, Wis. -- Freshman forward Mark Segbers is one of the many new faces on the team this season. The freshman forward from St. Louis, Missouri, has been turning heads since the preseason, and he currently leads the Big Ten in goals, goals per game, points and points per game.
We recently caught up with Segbers to learn more about his personality both on and off the soccer field.
Why Wisconsin? They had an interest in me in soccer, which I loved, but I knew it had a rich history for being a very good academic school and I really wanted to get a good education as well as play on a good soccer team.
What does it mean to be a Badger? I love it. Especially on the soccer field with Badger toughness, every guy knows you never give up and can always trust that the guy next to you is working just as hard as you. In the community, everyone is so welcoming. On the first day I didn’t know many people in the dorm, but everyone’s door is open and people are always saying hi, so it’s family-oriented which I really like.
