FOOTBALL (2-1)
This Week: The 19th-ranked Badgers close out their non-conference slate by hosting South Florida (2-2) at Camp Randall Stadium at 11 a.m. Saturday. The first-ever meeting between the Badgers and Bulls airs live on ESPNU.
Last Week: Wisconsin bulldozed Bowling Green for a school-record 756 yards of total offense, including a Big Ten modern-era record 644 rushing yards, en route to a 68-17 win at Camp Randall. Junior RB Melvin Gordon led the charge with a career-high 253 yards and a school record-tying five touchdowns on just 13 carries.
Need to Know: Gordon enters Saturday’s game tied for the all-time FBS career rushing average record at 8.26 yards per carry, matching Army’s Glenn Davis (1943-46).
Good to Know: ESPNU will broadcast Saturday’s game with Adam Amin and John Congemi on the call. On radio, the game airs live statewide on the Badger Sports Network, with Matt Lepay, Mike Lucas and Patrick Herb calling the action. VOLLEYBALL (9-1)
This Week: The fourth-ranked Badgers (9-1, 0-0) open Big Ten Conference play by hosting two games this week. Wisconsin takes on No. 3 Penn State (12-1, 0-0) on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. live on BTN in a rematch of the 2013 NCAA championship. UW also hosts Ohio State (9-3, 0-0) on Sunday at 1 p.m. in the Field House.
Last Week: The Badgers went 1-1 at the Pac-12/Big Ten Showcase, downing No. 10 USC 3-1 before dropping their first match of the year at No. 5 Washington, 3-2, on Friday. Senior Courtney Thomas and junior Taylor Morey were named to the Pac-12/Big Ten Showcase all-tournament team. Thomas averaged a team-best 3.56 kills per set while Morey averaged 6.44 digs per set.
Need to Know: Wisconsin wraps up a three-match stretch against top-10 teams this week. The Badgers are 1-1 after downing No. 10 USC and losing at No. 5 Washington last weekend. UW faces No. 3 Penn State on Wednesday.

WOMEN'S HOCKEY
This Week: The Badgers (0-0-0) open up the 2014-15 season with a road test this weekend at Lindenwood (0-0-0). Friday’s faceoff is set for 7 p.m., while the series finale on Saturday will start at 3 p.m.
Last Week: Wisconsin held its first practice last Saturday and its annual Red-White scrimmage at LaBahn Arena.
Need to Know: Wisconsin returns 18 letterwinners from last year’s Frozen Four squad and welcome six newcomers to this year’s squad, but will be without Mellissa Channell, Emily Clark, Ann-Renee Desbiens, Sarah Nurse and Blayre Turnbull as the quintet will attend Hockey Canada’s National Fall Festival this week.

WOMEN'S SOCCER
This Week: No. 13 Wisconsin (8-1-0, 2-1-0 Big Ten) returns to the road to face Indiana and Purdue this weekend. The Badgers and Hoosiers are scheduled to kick off at 6 p.m. (CT) Friday in Bloomington. The Badgers take on the Boilermakers on Sunday at noon.
Last Week: The Badgers earned their fifth-straight home win this season and shut out Nebraska 3-0 in Madison last Saturday. It marked UW’s first win over the Huskers since 2011 and the first time ever that they had beaten them in Madison.
Need to Know: Wisconsin is 3-1 on the road so far this season. Last year, the Badgers embraced the road warrior mentality and finished fourth in school history for single-season true road wins (6).

MEN'S SOCCER
This Week: Wisconsin (1-4-1, 0-1-0 Big Ten) resumes its conference schedule with a trip to face new Big Ten member Maryland on Friday night. Opening kickoff between the Badgers and Terrapins is set for 6:30 p.m. CT in College Park.
Last Week: The Badgers battled to a 1-1 tie in double overtime against St. John’s last Friday. Mike Catalano scored his second goal of the season to equalize the match early in the second half, then the two teams played to an even draw the rest of the way.
Need to Know: Wisconsin refuses to be shut out this season and has yet to go scoreless in a game. The Badgers actually rank among the best in the Big Ten Conference for scoring, as UW is ranked either first or second in the league in goals, goals per game and points.

WOMEN'S TENNIS
This Week: Junior Lauren Chypyha will represent the Badgers in the ITA All-America tournament at the Riviera Tennis Club in Pacific Palisades, California. She will compete in Pre-qualifying singles on Sept. 27-28.
Need to Know: Chypyha is the first UW women’s tennis player to compete in the All-America tournament since 2006.
Good to Know: The Badgers went 18-3 in doubles action last weekend at the Gopher Invite in Minneapolis.
MEN'S GOLF
This Week: Wisconsin will finish the final round of the Windon Memorial Classic in Chicago on Monday, and then will host its own Badger Men’s Golf Invitational, Sept. 28-30, at University Ridge Golf Course.
Last Week: Led by two freshmen, the men’s golf team is in 12th place with a 19-over par with a score of 290-289-579 after the first two rounds of the Windon Memorial hosted by Northwestern.
Need to Know: The two freshmen in the Badger lineup paced the Badgers after the first day at Northwestern. Eddie Wajda led Wisconsin and tied for seventh at the end of the first day. Not only is it his highest second-round finish, Wajda also set his 18-hole and 36-hole career best with his 72-68-140. Freshman Payton Taylor tied for 39th place with his 6-over score of 146. He also recorded a new 36-hole career best.

• Windon Memorial Classic -- Live Scoring
WOMEN'S GOLF
This Week: Wisconsin competed at the inaugural East-West Challenge, placing third in the medal round after scoring 302-294--596, which included two golfers in the top 10 at the U-M Golf Course in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The Badgers fell to UC Davis 2-3 in the first rounds of match play and faces No. 1 seed Ohio State on Monday to fight for third place.
Last Week: The Badgers captured 11th place in their first tournament of the 2014-15 season on Tuesday at the Cougar Classic in Charleston, South Carolina. Wisconsin finished 24-over par, with a 3-round score of 299-291-298--888, tying the 13th lowest 54-hole score in schoool history.
Need to Know: UW will host the East-West Match play even next year at University Ridge Golf Course.

SOFTBALL
This Week: Coming off of a 2-0 start, the Wisconsin softball team continues their fall season when they face Highland College on Friday night and take on Kirkwood Community College in a doubleheader beginning at 12 on Sunday.
Last Week: The Badgers issued a clean sweep against the Green Bay Phoenix on Sunday at Goodman Softball Complex. Wisconsin claimed the first game 9-0 before defeating the Phoenix 9-1 in the second game.
Need to Know: Freshman Mariah Watts made her debut in the circle for the Badgers and allowed no runs in UW’s first shutout of the season. Four of the six newcomers saw action in Sunday’s games against Green Bay.
