Wajda tops Badgers’ scoring at The Grove Intercollegiate

San Antonio, Texas – Eddie Wajda III tied his 18-hole season low, Sunday, as the Wisconsin men's golf team shot an 18-over 306 at The Grove Intercollegiate, a 54-hole tournament at The Grove Club in College Grove, Tennessee.

Wajda's 1-over first round put him in a tie for 11th on the player leaderboard, which if it stands, would be a new career tournament finish. He is five shots behind Lipscomb University's Stoney Crouch (-4, 68), who leads the tournament.

The Badgers are tied with Southern Mississippi for ninth, trailing eighth-place College of Charleston (+16, 304) by two strokes and Cincinnati (+15, 303) by three shots in seventh. UW and Southern Mississippi lead Abilene Christian (+22, 310), which is in 11th, by four shots.
Lipscomb University leads the event at an even par 288, ahead of second-place Troy (+3, 291) by three strokes. Kentucky rounds out the top three with a 5-over 293.

After Wajda, Ben Skogen was Wisconsin's best golfer. He shot a 4-over 76, placing him in a tie for 25th.

Jordan Hahn shot a 6-over 78 and is tied for 40th. Michael Abrahamson and Matt Ross both shot 7-over 79s, which tied them for 50th.

Round 2 will tee off, Tuesday, beginning at 9 a.m. from Holes 1 and 10.
