Senior biochemistry major earns second CoSIDA academic accolade of career
MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin men's soccer senior Adam Lauko has long personified what it means to be a student-athlete, carrying himself both on and off the field of play. On Thursday, Lauko was named a 2015 CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree for the second straight season.
A team captain, Lauko becomes the seventh First Team Academic All-District honoree in school history. The defender earned the same accolade last year as a junior. Â
Lauko, a native of Baldwinsville, New York, is a biochemistry major with a 3.80 cumulative grade point average. The senior has played in 13 games so far this season and has started 11. Lauko tallied his first career goal earlier this season when the Badgers played UC Davis in California.
Lauko has earned multiple academic accolades aside from his pair of CoSIDA All-District nods, including a trio of Academic All-Big Ten awards in 2012, 2013, and 2014.
By being recognized to the CoSIDA Academic All-District team, Lauko is now eligible for Academic All-America honors this season, which will be chosen in mid-November.
The Academic All-America program recognizes starters or key reserves on his or her team who maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a 4.00 scale and are at least a sophomore athletically and academically.
