Badgers ranked among top 15 teams in first poll of 2015-16 season
MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin men's swimming team was ranked No. 13 in the country in the first national rankings of 2015-16 by the Collegiate Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA), which were announced Thursday.
This most recent national ranking comes on the heels of both the Wisconsin men's team and the women's team earning national rankings from CollegeSwimming.com. The men are currently No. 12 in those rankings, while the women check in at No. 15.
Under head coach Whitney Hite, both the Wisconsin men's and women's teams spent the entire 2014-15 season ranked within the top 25 of the CSCAA Coaches Poll.
Both the Wisconsin men and women opened their season at home last Friday and each earned wins over Minnesota. The men defeated the Gophers with a 159-141 final team score, marking the second straight year the Badgers have defeated the Border Battle rival. The women also knocked off the defending Big Ten champions with a final team score of 152-148.
Wisconsin returns to the pool on Nov. 13 with a dual meet at Indiana, followed by another road dual meet against Northwestern on Nov. 14.
The College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Division I Team Rankings are compiled by nine CSCAA-member coaches and one media member. Â The rankings will be released on a weekly basis throughout the 2015-16 season, alternating weeks between a men's and women's team ranking.
