Wisconsin moves up to fifth at Erin Hills Intercollegiate

Hartford, Wis. - The Wisconsin men's golf team moved up one spot to fifth at the Erin Hills Intercollegiate, as the Badgers shot an even par 288, Monday, at Erin Hills Golf Course.
Through 36 holes, UW (296-288=584) is 8-over and trails fourth-place Ole Miss, which registered the low second-round score (-6, 282), by six strokes. The Badgers are just one shot ahead of New Mexico in sixth and two shots better than host school Marquette in seventh. Wisconsin was one of three teams (Ole Miss, New Mexico) to improve their position on the team leaderboard, Monday.
SMU (-8, 280-288=568), Oklahoma State (-4, 282-290=572) and UCLA (-1, 289-286=575) held strong in first, second and third, respectively.
Among the Badgers, Johnny Decker picked up the best second-round score, shooting a 1-under 71 to bring his 36-hole total to a 6-over 79-71=150. The performance was also a career-low for 18 holes. He sits in a tie with teammate Jordan Hahn and three others for 36th.
Hahn (+6, 78-72=150) posted one of two even rounds for UW on Monday.
Team leader Michael Abrahamson (-3, 69-72=141) scored the other 72, as he went for three bogies and three birdies. The sophomore's 36-hole score of 141 tied a career-low. Abrahamson dropped three spots but still remains in the top 10 on the player leaderboard in a tie for sixth. Abrahamson is four shots off Jonathan Garrick (-7, 68-69=137) of UCLA, who leads the tournament entering Tuesday.
Eddie Wajda III put up a 2-over 74 in Round 2, bringing him to a 3-over 73-74=147. The Brookfield, Wisconsin, native is tied for 23rd.
Matt Ross (+5, 76-73=149) rounded out the team scoring, as he went 1-over in the second round. He is a few spots behind Wajda in a knot for 29th.
Competing individually, Ben Skogen (71-77=148) shot a 5-over 77 and Brett Robinson (75-80=155) marked an 8-over 80. Skogen is tied for 26th at 4-over, while Robinson is tied for 56th at 11-over.
The final round of the Erin Hills Intercollegiate begins Tuesday at 8:30 from Holes 1 and 10.
