Badgers settle for draw in double overtime on the road at Milwaukee

Pickett scores first-career goal, but UW unable to find go-ahead goal
MILWAUKEE -- Despite a commanding offensive performance and Victoria Pickett scoring her first career goal, the Wisconsin women's soccer team was unable to find the game-winning goal and had to settle for a draw in double overtime on the road against Milwaukee on Friday night.
The Badgers (3-3-1) stuffed the stat sheet and out-shot the Panthers by a 28-4 margin, including a 23-3 edge over the final three periods, but were just unable to find the go-ahead goal and steal a road win.
With encouragement from a crowd of 1,273 fans in attendance – the fourth-largest crowd in Engelmann Stadium history – the Panthers (2-2-1) scored first and took an early lead in the first half. After UW goalkeeper Caitlyn Clem turned the ball over, Callie O'Donnell capitalized by taking one touch in space and then scored past Clem in the 12th minute to give UWM the 1-0 lead.
Freshman midfielder Pickett scored her first career goal to help UW tie the game in the second half. Micaela Powers helped generate the play, sending a long throw-in into the box, which was headed by a Panther defender and set up for Pickett to strike on a volley for the equalizer in the 58th minute.
2015 MAC Hermann Trophy candidate Rose Lavelle finished with a career-high eight shots in the game for Wisconsin, but was denied a goal. Lavelle came desperately close to scoring in the second half when she launched a long shot that bounced off the right post and out.
Canadians Kinley McNicoll and Emily Borgmann had four shots each for UW.
In addition to its commanding shots advantage, UW also won the corner kick battle, 8-2.
Wisconsin travels to face Kentucky on Sunday for a 2 p.m. CT game in Lexington.
