Campus and UW Athletics sponsor free fitness workout on the turf May 25
REGISTRATION
MADISON, Wis. -- Campus and UW Athletics are once again bringing a free fitness workout to the 50-yard line at Camp Randall Stadium on Wednesday, May 25. The event is open to faculty, staff, and students. Led by Rec Sports Group Fitness instructors and Bucky himself, this high-energy, low-stress workout is designed for participants of all abilities and fitness levels.
"Bucky's Workout is an awesome chance to get in a great workout, surrounded by great people, all on the field of our beautiful Camp Randall Stadium," junior Group Fitness instructor Connor Lieser said. Lieser was one of the instructors leading the workout last spring, when the event had over 75 faculty/staff participants in its first year. "We would love to see the field packed with even more people, especially since students are invited this year."
Molly Heisterkamp, the University's Employee Wellness Coordinator, hopes that the event will bring campus together as a community in a positive, health-promoting way. "We want to provide an experience that helps us de-stress, reenergize, and recharge," Heisterkamp said. "It was a success last year, but we are even more excited to bring in more people and more energy."
The event is co-sponsored by UW Athletics, the Division of Recreational Sports, the Office of Human Resources, University Health Services, and UWell. BCycle will provide free bikes for participants to ride to Camp Randall. Students who ride to the event and complete the workout will receive a code for a free one-year BCycle membership. This is all part of a collaborative effort to encourage faculty, staff, and students to lead active, healthy lives.
Bucky's Workout begins at noon on May 25 at Camp Randall Stadium. Participants should enter through Gate 3. Comfortable clothing and athletic shoes are encouraged. Water and complimentary KIND snacks will be provided following the workout. Showers are available at the Shell (adjacent to the football stadium) if needed.
