Badgers set to compete in FAMC Intercollegiate

Tournament field includes 14 teams
MADISON, Wis. -- The Wisconsin men's golf team hits the road for the first time this season to compete in the Franklin American Mortgage Intercollegiate at The Grove in College Grove, Tennessee, Sept. 18-20.
Â
Hosted by Middle Tennessee, the 54-hole tournament will be played at The Grove, a par-72, 7,268 yard course designed by Greg Norman.
Â
The tournament features 14 teams, including Cincinnati, College of Charleston, Elon, Georgia, Kennesaw State, Louisiana, Louisville, McNeese State, Memphis, Mississippi, NC State, Troy, host Middle Tennessee and the Badgers.
Â
Competing for the Badgers are junior Eddie Wajda, senior Ben Skogen, sophomore Jordan Hahn, freshman Nick Robinson and junior Johnny Decker. Freshman Pete Kuhl will compete as an individual.
Â
"Eddie, Ben, and Jordan have all played at The Grove, and that is comforting to know there will be a little less learning the course during the practice round," UW head coach Michael Burcin said. "We are also fired up for Pete to get three more rounds in as we are very pleased with he and Nick and how they have looked two weeks into their college careers."
Â
Last weekend, UW finished tied for fourth place in the Badger Invitational to open the season. Wajda led the Badgers and finished 2-under to tie for eighth place, while Hahn finished 3-over to tie for 23rd place.
Â
"We did qualify for the last three spots in the lineup and I think it is fitting these six are back in for Nashville after our home event," Burcin said. "We will need to show improvement this week but with what we saw at home, I am very confident we will continue to grow as we have a great mix of experienced kids and freshman."

The FAMC Intercollegiate at The Grove tees off on Sunday at 8 a.m. Live scoring can be found at GolfStat.com.
