Breaking the ice with...Trent Frederic

MADISON, Wis. -- With the 2016-17 Wisconsin men's hockey season right around the corner, UWBadgers.com goes beyond what fans will see on the ice this season to introduce the six newest members of the Badgers' incoming class by exploring their personalities, likes and dislikes.

Next up in this year's series is forward Trent Frederic.

Frederic, a native of St. Louis, Missouri, played the last two seasons for the 2015-16 for the U.S. National Team Development Program (USNTDP). He played in 60 games during the 2015-16 season for the USNTDP under-18 team, registering 40 points on 20 goals and 20 assists. In 55 games for the U.S. Under-17 team in 2014-15, Frederic put up 14 points on five goals and nine assists. He skated for Team USA at the 2016 International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) Under-18 World Championship in Grand Forks, North Dakota where he scored four goals and seven points in seven games to help the team to bronze.

College athletics run in the Frederic family, as Trent will be the fourth member of his family to play a D-I sport. His sister, KC, played volleyball at Oregon State, his brother, Geno, played football at the University of Memphis and his brother, Grant, currently plays hockey at Miami University in Ohio.

Frederic will wear No. 34 for a jersey number and will be just the fifth player in program history to wear No. 34. The other four include Crister Olviken, Vic Posa, Rick Spooner and Gabe Grunwald.
