Hahn, Anderson lead Badgers to best round of tournament
ERIN, Wis. – Junior Jordan Hahn shot an even par 72 while freshman Sam Anderson fired a career-best 1-over par 73 to lead the Wisconsin men's golf team in the final round of the Marquette Intercollegiate at Erin Hills Golf Course.
The Badgers put together their best round of the tournament on Tuesday, climbing two spots on the team leaderboard to finish seventh. Their 297 team total was tied for the fourth-best round of the day.
"This was a big week for us momentum wise," UW head coach Michael Burcin said. "We got a quality round from Sam in the five spot today which is something we have been in need of. The conditions were tough this week and the guys overall did a nice job in a loaded field."
Individually, Hahn jumped 25 spots to finish in a tie for 22nd place at +8. That was the biggest improvement of any player on the final day. Joining him at that mark was sophomore Pete Kuhl, who shot his second consecutive 74 in the final round.
Two shots back of them in a tie for 31st was sophomore Nick Robinson, whose opening-round 72 paced the Badgers on Sunday. Junior Brett Robinson, who competed as an individual, and freshman Griffin Barela, whose 1-over par 73 was UW's low score in the second round, tied for 50th at +15.
Anderson, competing in his first tournament for the Badgers, climbed 16 spots on the leaderboard thanks to his final round 73 and earned a share of 70th.
