MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin women's golf team will play in the Bettie Lou Evans Invitational Friday through Sunday, Oct. 6-8, at the Big Blue Course at the University Club of Kentucky in Lexington.
Here are five things you need to know:
1. Starting Five: The Badgers' lineup for this week consists of seniors Gabby Curtis, Lexi Harkins, Aya Johnson, and Becky Klongland along with junior Jessica Reinecke. Freshman Mackenzie Hahn will also compete as an individual.Â
2. The Field: A total of 16 teams will compete this week. In addition to Wisconsin, Akron, Ball State, Bradley, Cincinnati, Fresno State, Grand Canyon, Illinois, Illinois State, Indiana, Kentucky, Murray State, Notre Dame, Penn State, Toledo, Western Kentucky are scheduled to tee it up on Friday.
3. The Format: The 54-hole tournament will consist of 18-hole rounds on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The Badgers will tee off on hole No. 1 on Friday starting at 9:39 a.m. CT. Saturday, play begins at 8 a.m. off holes No. 1 and No. 10 while Sunday's final round is a shotgun start beginning at 8 a.m.
4. Same as it Ever Was: For the third straight tournament, the Badgers are using the same five-person lineup. UW never used the same lineup three consecutive times last season.
5. Quotable: "It will be great to get back out on the golf course and we look forward to playing at Kentucky. It's a new tournament for us and a great opportunity to see a new golf course and continue to develop.Â
"We've had a solid start overall and look to build on the momentum we have through the early fall. We've shown a lot of maturity early in the season and I have been pleased with their approach and preparation." – UW Head Coach Todd Oerhlein
