Badgers head to Evanston
MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin men's golf team will play in the Windon Memorial Classic Sunday and Monday, Oct. 8-9, at Evanston Golf Club in Skokie, Illinois.Â
Here are five things you need to know:
1. Starting Five: The Badgers' lineup for this weekend consists of the same five golfers that competed at the Marquette Intercollegiate earlier in the week: junior Jordan Hahn, sophomores Nick Robinson and Pete Kuhl and freshmen Griffin Barela and Sam Anderson. Junior Brett Robinson compete as an individual. Hahn, Nick Robinson, Kuhl and Barela will be playing in their third tournament in the last 15 days.
2. The Field: A total of 15 teams will compete this weekend. In addition to Wisconsin, Army, Columbia, Eastern Michigan, Princeton, Northern Illinois, Northwestern, UC Davis, Loyola (Chicago), Miami (Ohio), Marquette, Iowa, Penn State, Indiana and Iowa State will tee it up.
3. The Format: The 54-hole tournament will consist of 36 holes on Sunday and 18 on Monday. Sunday's first round will begin at 7:30 a.m. with play starting at 8 a.m. on Monday. Live stats are available via GolfStat.com.
4. Good Vibes: The Badgers played in the Windon last year as well, when it was held at North Shore Country Club in Glenview, Ill. Hahn, who shot a career-low 67 in the second round, finished in a tie for second place at -4 (70-67-75=212), three strokes back of Michigan's Kyle Mueller.
5. Quotable: "The guys are excited to build on last week. Coach Woodruff and I were so impressed with the fight and discipline that these guys showed, from Jordan who is a junior all the way down to the four freshmen and sophomores. There is a lot to be excited about and we need to show that same fight to keep the momentum rolling. The Windon will be the end of a difficult three-week stretch and it will be important to have a good event." – UW Head Coach Michael Burcin
