2017 Spring Schedule
MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin volleyball team will compete four times this spring, head coach
Kelly Sheffield announced on Monday. The Badgers, who ended the 2016 season with a 28-5 record and ranked fifth in the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll, will take on Illinois, Creighton, Green Bay, and Iowa State in matches this April.
"It's nice that we are able to play some teams in the spring," Sheffield said. "We have some players that enrolled in school early and others that were out with injuries in the fall. It'll be particularly helpful to those players to see some outside competition.Â
"We're also looking forward to playing at some neutral-site areas and play in front of people in those communities that may not have the opportunity to see high-level volleyball in person. "
Wisconsin is tentatively scheduled to start the spring season on April 1 with a match against Illinois (17-14) at the Great Lakes Center in Aurora, Illinois. The Fighting Illini recently hired a new coach and details of the match will be confirmed at a later date.
UW takes on ninth-ranked Creighton (29-7) in a match at Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa, on April 9. The match begins at 2 p.m. in the
Richard and Norma Small Multi-Sport Center.
The Badgers have their only home match of the spring season on April 15 vs. Green Bay (21-9). First serve is at 6:30 p.m. in the UW Field House and admission is free.
Wisconsin wraps up the spring season on April 21 with a match against Iowa State (18-11) at West Delaware High School in Manchester, Iowa. Match time is at 7 p.m.
