UW set to face four top-25 teams
AWENDAW, S. C. -- The Wisconsin men's golf team will culminate its spring break trip by competing in the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate from March 26-28 at the Bulls Bay Golf Club.
Â
"This spring break trip has turned into a wonderful annual event for our program," UW head coach Michael Burcin said. "Whether spending a week in the Carolinas and playing the Hootie or going to Oregon and spending several days at Bandon Dunes, this week-long trip is always very productive and it's a great opportunity for coaches and players to spend some quality time together."
Â
Hosted by South Carolina and College of Charleston, the Badgers will take on Houston, No. 9 Virginia, Purdue, Georgia State, Kentucky, Richmond, Kansas, No. 25 Mississippi, North Carolina State, No. 23 Auburn, No. 24 Missouri and Charleston Southern.
Â
Wisconsin's lineup includes Jordan Hahn, Pete Kuhl, Ben Skogen, Brett Robinson and Nick Robinson.
Â
Last time out, Hahn led the Badgers to a sixth-place finish at the Colleton River Collegiate. Hahn finished at 5-over to tie for sixth overall, while Kuhl tied for 26th at 12-over and Nick Robinson finished one stroke back to end in a tie for 31st. Brett Robinson came in as UW's fourth-best finisher in a tie for 41st and individual competitor Skogen recorded a tie for 45th.
Â
"This has been a great spring break trip for the guys being able to play six rounds prior to the beginning of the Hootie event, so they will be ready," Burcin said. "This golf course is one that we have some guys who have played there as well as Coach Woodruff and myself having played or coached probably 75 rounds, so there is a high level of familiarity that we can help our younger guys with. Â
Â
It is a great test and one that will make us hit all types of golf shots with most likely windy conditions. With a great field, this is an awesome opportunity for our guys and this is always a fun week for everyone."
Â
The first round of the Hootie at Bulls Bay Intercollegiate will tee off Monday. Live scoring can be followed at BirdieFire.com.
