Badgers finish seventh at Big Ten Championship

Skogen ties for 10th to lead UW
BALTIMORE -- On a team known for its youth, senior Ben Skogen rose to the occasion and relied on his experience to lead the Wisconsin men's golf team to a seventh place finish at the Big Ten Championship.

Skogen (75-69-68=212) saved his best round for last by firing a 2-under 68 to claim a tie for 10th place. The finished marked the Onalaska, Wisconsin, native's best finish of the season and best-ever placing at the Big Ten Championship to close out his career.

Just one year removed from a 14th-place finish, the Badgers (288-284-288=860) plced seventh as a team, just two strokes behind Iowa, Purdue and Penn State, who all tied for fourth place at 18-over.

One stroke behind Skogen sat sophomore Jordan Hahn (70-73-70=213), who recorded an even par-70 to jump into a tie for 14th and collect his sixth top-20 finish of the season.

At 8-over, freshman Nick Robinson (72-69-77=218) wrapped up his first-ever conference tournament tied for 29th to mark his fourth top-30 finish of the year.

Fellow freshman Pete Kuhl (73-74-73=220) finished two strokes behind Robinson to tie for 35th.

Junior Eddie Wajda (73-73-77=223) ended his third Big Ten Championship in a tie for 44th to mark his best finish of the spring.

Illinois took home the team title at 11-under, followed by Northwestern (+5) and Ohio State (+15). The Badgers (+20) finished six strokes ahead of eighth-place Maryland and 18 in front of Michigan. Minnesota (+45), Indiana (+46), Nebraska (+50), Michigan State (+52) and Rutgers (+52) rounded out the 14-team field.
