MADISON, Wis. – Competing for a Big Ten regular season title, the Wisconsin women's soccer team (12-2-3 overall, 6-1-3 Big Ten) cannot afford a loss. Thursday night they took a step in the right direction, shutting down Nebraska (8-5-4, 4-4-1), 1-0, at the McClimon Soccer Complex.

Scoreless until the 24th minute, Wisconsin sophomore Lauren Rice took a pass from midfielder Victoria Pickett and beat Nebraska's keeper on the near post, securing the Badgers' victory.

Rice's goal gives her a score in back-to-back matches, as she scored in Wisconsin's most recent game against Minnesota.

Nebraska held a 9-8 shot advantage over Wisconsin and a 3-1 corner advantage.

Wisconsin keeper Jordyn Bloomer logged five saves for the Badgers, giving the keeper her fifth shutout win of the year.

"Nebraska poses a very interesting problem, tactically. What they do, they do very well. I thought our team bought into the game plan and was disciplined in what they did and I thought they brought a physical challenge that they needed to bring. I was happy to see that this part of the year."

On Friday's practice plan…
"Always business as usual. I think we have to stay in our same routine, it's bode pretty well for us to this point so it's just going back and focusing on the details and getting better at what we do. Even though we have a win it doesn't stop us from getting better."
