Postgame Quotes: No. 12 Wisconsin vs. Rutgers
December 3, 2018
Kohl Center | Madison, Wis.
Head coach Greg Gard
Opening Statement:
"Obviously I'm happy for our guys to be able to find a way when we weren't particularly at our best all the time, but I thought the second half we did some good things defensively and obviously we were able to get the ball in the net. It's the Big Ten, it's going to be rough, it's going to be competitive. It's probably, nationally, top to bottom going to be one of the best leagues in the country, if not the best."
On needing to be a good second half team:
"We've played good teams. Look at the stretch we've been through. You'd expect it to be competitive, we knew when we saw the schedule evolve that this was going to be a heck of a run…you're going to have to learn through the ebbs and flows…this group is learning and growing and as time goes on they've continued to improve in certain areas."
On Nate Reuvers performance:
"I thought he was much more aggressive in trying to post, and he can be aggressive there…I thought he was engaging contact and seeking catches deep."
On the second half:
"I think we did a better job on making better decisions. Most of the half time conversation was about what we needed to do defensively to try and stop the ball from getting in the paint...we did a better job of being stronger with the ball and not putting ourselves in hazardous positions."
