COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Going up against the toughest competition in the country didn't stop Ollie Hoare from delivering a powerhouse performance in the 3000 meters on Saturday and earning his second first-team All-America honor of the NCAA Indoor Championship meet.
 
Hoare stayed consistent throughout the race, as he stuck to the pace set by the middle of the pack. With about 600 meters to go, the sophomore made his move, giving it all he had in the last stretch to cross the line in a time of 8 minutes, 8.30 seconds for eighth place.
 
The Badgers saw continued success in the multi-events as the final day of the heptathlon competition came to a close. Both Trent Nytes and Zach Lorbeck earned second-team All-American honors for their performances.
 
Kicking off the second day of heptathlon competition was the 60-meter hurdles event, where Nytes came out strong, finishing in a time of 8.43 seconds. Next up was the pole vault, where the junior cleared a height of 14-3 ½ (4.36m). Nytes rounded out the seven-discipline event with a personal best in the 1000-meter race, crossing the line in 2:44.03 to lock in his 11th-place finish.
 
 Lorbeck left it all on the track in the final day of heptathlon. The sophomore ran the 60-meter hurdles in 8.98 seconds, and went on to clear 13-11 3/4 (4.26m) in the pole vault. Lorbeck went hard in the last event of the day, crossing the line of the 1000 meters in a personal best time of 2:53.96, securing his 15th-place overall finish.
 
For the Badger women, Banke Oginni earned her second second-team All-America honor of the championships in the throwing ring for her performance in the weight throw. The junior threw the weight a distance of 67-10 3/4 to take 12th overall in the event.
 
Now the Badgers will start preparations for the outdoor season, kicking off competition at the UC San Diego Invite on March 31.

"In the 3k, Ollie earned his second All-American honors of the championships. When you look at the volume of work he's put in for us the last two weeks, it is to his credit that he could hang in there today and finish eighth, less than 24 hours after running a 3:57 anchor Mile on our DMR. Considering that he scored a single point for us 12 months ago at Big Ten, he's certainly come a long way and I'm looking forward to the future."
