Curtis’ career ends at NCAA Championships

Finishes with second-best career scoring average in Wisconsin history
STILWATER, Okla. - Wisconsin senior Gabby Curtis shot an even-par 72 in Sunday's third round of the NCAA Women's Golf Championships at Karsten Creek Golf Club in Stillwater, Oklahoma but it wasn't enough for her to advance to the final round as she finished in a tie for 72nd place at 12-over par, seven strokes off the cut.
Curtis, who had made just one birdie in the first two rounds, made three in her final 18 holes. Her third-round 72 propelled her up 21 spots on the leaderboard. However, only the top nine individuals not on advancing teams made the cut for the final round and Curtis finished seven strokes back of Georgia's Jillian Hollis for the final spot.
The NCAA championships signaled the end of a stellar career for Curtis. She finished her four years as a Badger with a career scoring average of 74.65, second-best in school history, trailing only Brooke Ferrell's 74.0. Curtis played in every tournament during her UW career and her 128 career rounds played are tied for sixth-most in Wisconsin history.
This season, Curtis was a second-team All-Big Ten selection and compiled a scoring average of 73.06, again trailing only Ferrell (72.25 in 2016-17) in school annals. Curtis registered four top-10 and nine top 25 finishes in her 12 tournaments. Seventeen of her 35 rounds were par or better, including 12 rounds under par.
Curtis' best finish came at the NCAA Madison Regional played at the Badgers' home course of University Ridge Golf Course. She opened the tournament with a career-best 67 in the first round en route to a school record-tying three-round total of 209 (-7). That was good for a share of fourth place as she became just the second Badger in history to qualify for the NCAA championships as an individual (joining Allie Blomquist in 2001).
A life sciences communications major, Curtis is on pace to graduate in December and earned Academic All-Big Ten honors for the first time this year.
