UW Athletics unveils Office of Career and Leadership

Woodruff to lead department; Pasquarello hired
The two announcements coincide with the Office of Student-Athlete Development (OSAD) being renamed the Office of Career and Leadership. OSAD was created in 2013 and at that time focused on five different areas: personal development, career development, leadership development, diversity and inclusion and community outreach. With the creation of the Badgers Give Back and Inclusion and Engagement units, it provided an opportunity for OSAD to narrow its focus to Career and Leadership.
The new unit offers one-on-one career and leadership support, team workshops and group programs. Woodruff will oversee the office and lead strategic efforts to conduct formative research, create a process for implementation and develop programs in the domains of career and leadership development for three key consumers: (1) current student-athletes, (2) staff and coaches and (3) former student-athletes.
The National W Club will report to Woodruff to ensure that the mission and strategic priorities of the National W Club and the Office of Career and Leadership are aligned to offer the utmost support to current and former student-athletes in their professional pursuits.
Pasquerello's main responsibilities will be to lead efforts in sustaining existing relationships and cultivating new relationships with employers and corporate partners in order to secure internship, part-time and full-time employment placements for UW student-athletes.
Pasquarello started his career as a goalie on the Wisconsin's men's soccer team from 1991-94. After serving as a volunteer assistant for the women's soccer team, he was hired as a full-time assistant coach for the men in 2002. In his most recent role, Pasquarello was a member of UW's Office of Corporate Relations, where he spent six years establishing relationships with businesses and corporations looking to partner with UW.
