Badgers shut out Illinois State for fourth-straight win

MADISON, Wis. – Continuing its winning ways, the Wisconsin women's soccer team captured its fourth-straight victory Thursday evening with a 1-0 win over the Illinois State Redbirds.
Junior Grace Douglas was the hero for the Badgers (5-1), finding the back of the Redbirds' (2-3-2) net in the ninth minute of the match. Douglas' goal was her first of the 2018 season and was assisted on by junior Dani Rhodes and sophomore Lauren Rice.
Wisconsin keeper Jordyn Bloomer logged her second career shutout, notching five saves on six shots.
The Badgers held the advantage in shots (15), shots on goal (6) and corners (11) on Thursday, overpowering the Redbirds from the first whistle.
Payton Wesley, Douglas, Rice, Rhodes, Fabry all logged shots for Wisconsin, giving the Badgers a handful of opportunities throughout the team's victory.
Dani Rhodes led the Badgers with four shots.

"It's great. We talked about not being on our home field for such a long time and being away for those four away matches, that was gonna be nice to be home in front of our home crowd and get stuff done. I'm also excited because school started and the kids getting into the flow of things is pretty important."
On Loyola-Chicago:
"I think we have to be better in the final third, I thought we created a lot of opportunities, especially on set pieces and we weren't clean enough in doing that... so we need to be a little better. I said that at halftime and I think we need to keep continuing on working on that. It's literally where seasons are made and broken so I think we need to be a little better in those areas and I think we created enough opportunities, we just need to finish things."
