Badgers head to Medinah Course No. 2
MADISON, Wis.- The Badger women's golf team is headed to Medinah, Illinois, to compete in the Illini Women's Invitational on Monday-Tuesday.
Here are five things to know before play gets under way on Monday
1. Quick Flashback: Last time the team competed, the Badgers took home first at the East-West Match Play Challenge for the stroke play portion. Senior Tess Hackworthy claimed the medalist title for stroke play and redshirt junior Bobbi Stricker won the individual title for the match play portion.
2. The Line-up: The team will be taking six players to the tournament - Hackworthy, Stricker, Claire Fitzgerald, Eloise Healey, Emily Lauterbach and Tracy Lee.
3. The Course: Medinah Country Club recently hosted the BMW Championship and has also hosted the Ryder Cup and the U.S. Open. The No. 3 course has been ranked 53rd on Golf Digest's Top 100 Courses in American list. This is a par-72 course and is 6,159 yards.
4. The Field: Wisconsin will be going up against 14 other schools which include Augusta, Illinois, Indiana, Kennesaw State, Kent State, Louisville, Maryland, Mississippi, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Purdue, San Jose State, Tennessee and Texas Tech.
5. The Format: Monday will be a 36-hole shotgun starting at 8:30 a.m. and Tuesday an 18-hole shotgun starting at 9 a.m.
