Molly Haggerty was named the Big Ten Conference Player of the Week and junior
Sydney Hilley was named the Big Ten Setter of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday.
Haggerty earns her first Big Ten Player of the Week award of the season and the third of her career after averaging 5.29 kills per set last week. She led the Badgers in kills in both matches, including a season-high 24 kills, just three off her career best, at No. 5 Minnesota. The 6-foot-1 outside hitter added a match-high 13 kills and two service aces against Michigan State. Haggerty hit .387 on the week while adding 1.71 digs, 0.39 service aces and 0.29 blocks per set
For the fifth time this season and 10
th time of her career, Hilley was named the Big Ten Setter of the Week. She put up a career best and UW all-time record (for all scoring) four-set match record with 78 assists at Minnesota, shattering her previous career best by 17 helpers. The 6-foot setter also added 33 assists against Michigan State to average 16.00 assists per set on the week. Hilley also added 1.29 digs, 0.86 blocks, 0.43 kills and 0.29 service aces per set for the week.
No. 5 Wisconsin (19-5, 15-1 B1G) wraps up its home regular season with two matches in the UW Field House this weekend. The Badgers host Iowa (9-18, 3-13) on Friday in the team's annual Senior Night. First serve is at 7:30 p.m., streaming live on BTN+ ($). UW hosts No. 6 Nebraska (22-3, 14-2) on Sunday. The Big Ten Network will air the match live beginning at 1:30 p.m. Only four matches remain in the Big Ten regular season and the top-four teams still have to face off.
