Badgers wrap up first day of NC State GAC Fall Invitational
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Wisconsin's 19th-ranked women's and 24th-ranked men's swimming & diving teams kicked off their first non-dual meet of the season on Thursday, competing in the NC State GAC Fall Invitational. Other schools competing at the meet include NC State, Arizona State, Duke, Auburn, George Washington, and Louisville.
The Badgers came away with a few individual wins in day one, headlined by reigning CSCAA Women's Swimmer of the Year Beata Nelson. The senior came through with a victory in the 200 IM with a time of 1:52.27.
Freshman Wes Jekel helped the Badgers sweep the 200 IM, as he took the top spot on the men's side with a 1:46.81 finish.
Other notable performances came from the women's 200 free relay, finishing third with a time of 1:31.16, senior Cameron Tysoe, who placed fifth in the men's 500 free (4:22.84), and the women's 400 medley relay, who claimed a top-three spot with a 3:34.44 finish.
The Badgers continue with day two of the meet tomorrow, with prelims beginning at 9:30 a.m. and finals at 5:30 p.m.
