Nelson sets a new school record, Badgers with a successful second day
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Wisconsin's 19th-ranked women's and 24th-ranked men's swimming & diving teams continued into day two of the NC State GAC Fall Invitational on Friday.
The highlight of the day once again came from reigning Big Ten Swimmer of the Year Beata Nelson, as the senior raced to a school-record 50.65 finish in the women's 100 fly.
Another Badger victory came through the work of junior MJ Mao, who took the top spot in the men's 100 breast with a time of 52.71. Senior Cameron Tysoe nearly missed out on a first-place finish as he came away with second in the men's 100 back, touching at 47.02.
A number of Badger relays were competitive, including the women's 200 medley with a third-place finish (1:38.92), the men's 200 medley in fourth (1:26.83), and the women's 800 free also taking third (7:09.81).
The Badgers will wrap up the weekend meet tomorrow from Greensboro, with prelims at 9:30 a.m. and finals at 5:30 p.m.
