
Three Badgers named to Scholar All-Region Teams

Cella, Rhodes, and Rice receive United Soccer Coaches academic honors
MADISON, Wis. – After a successful season, the awards are continuing for the Wisconsin women's soccer team, this time focusing on the Badgers off the field. The United Soccer Coaches announced that three Badgers have been named to Scholar All-Region Teams this Monday. Maia Cella and Dani Rhodes have received first team honors and Lauren Rice has been named to the second team.
Cella, the junior from Evanston, Illinois, has a 3.93 cumulative grade point average in psychology. The midfielder has been stellar in the classroom, receiving Academic All-Big Ten honors in 2018 and earning the Big Ten Distinguished Scholar Award following her sophomore year. Cella has started every game for the Badgers this season, being a crucial member in Wisconsin's midfield.
Rhodes ends her career with two Academic All-Big Ten honors in 2017 and 2018 and the Big Ten Distinguished Scholar Award following her junior year. The Waukesha, Wisconsin senior is majoring in life sciences communications and has earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.59. Rhodes has had a record-breaking collegiate career at Wisconsin, ending her senior season being recognized as Big Ten Forward of the Year, receiving United Soccer Coaches All-American second-team accolades, and All-North Region First Team honors.
Rice being named to the second team marks her second academic award. She previously received Academic All-Big Ten honors in 2018. The junior from Noblesville, Indiana has received a 3.67 cumulative grade point average in biology. Rice has started in every game this season, recording two goals and five assists.
