Wisconsin battles Princeton at 6:30 p.m. (CT) in New Jersey
MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin hits the road for the first time in the 2019 season, searching for its first away win over Princeton in a heavyweight college match.
1. Westerman's wing: Head coach Danny Westerman previews the Badgers' weekend ahead:
"Very happy with the way we have been playing. The guys are excited to go on our first road trip of the year and take on another very good team in Princeton. Should be another great college tennis match.
We host an Oregon team this Sunday that has, in the last few years, really turned themselves into a top Pac 12 contender and consistent NCAA qualifier. We will need to take another step forward this week. We will definitely need to be ready to go for both teams."
2. Scouting Princeton: Princeton checks in at 10-4 in the 2019 season. The Tigers hold some impressive wins over Penn State, Yale, and Charlotte - among others. Princeton's four losses are nothing to sneeze at, losing to then-No. 48 Mississippi, Dartmouth, Harvard and Old Dominion.
The Badgers hold a dominant 6-1 record over the Tigers in school history, notching a 1-0 record at Nielsen, 1-0 record in Princeton, N.J., and a 4-1 record at neutral sites.
3. Back on track: Senior captain Osgar O'Hoisin got off to a blistering 5-0 start in the 2019 season. After falling for the first time in straight-sets to the No. 7 nationally ranked player, Oregon's Thomas Laurent, 6-0, 6-2.
O'Hoisin looks to comeback with a bounce back win at the No. 1 spot over Princeton's ace, Ryan Seggerman.
4. Doubles Demons: In head coach Danny Westerman's tenure, the doubles point has been paramount. In practice and in matches, Westerman strives to culminate the collective team mindset towards winning the first tally of a dual match. That trend continues into the 2019 season, as the Badgers post an unbeaten 8-0 record in team doubles on the year.
