UW Athletic Board renews coaches' contracts

Gard, Tsipis, Granato, Johnson, Bono and Suguiyama approved for renewals

MADISON, Wis. – The UW Athletic Board met Friday afternoon and approved the following recommendations of the UW Department of Athletics regarding contracts for winter sports head coaches:

•   Men's basketball head coach Greg Gard's five-year contract extended through May 31, 2024
•   Women's basketball head coach Jonathan Tsipis's five-year contract extended through May 31, 2024
•   Men's hockey head coach Tony Granato's five-year contract extended through June 30, 2024
•   Women's hockey head coach Mark Johnson's five-year contract extended through June 30, 2024
•   Wrestling head coach Chris Bono's three-year contract extended through May 31, 2022
•   Swimming and diving head coach Yuri Suguiyama's three-year contract extended through June 14, 2022
