Wisconsin women’s rowing earns 12th consecutive NCAA invitation

Badgers extend department’s longest NCAA team bid streak

MADISON, Wis. – With the glow of a successful 2019 Big Ten Conference Rowing Championships fading, the No. 11 Wisconsin women's rowing program had its fire rekindled this afternoon when it learned it will compete at its 12th-consecutive NCAA rowing championships.
Earning an at-large bid, the Badgers will race their varsity eight, second varsity eight and varsity four crews at Eagle Creek Park in Indianapolis from May 31-June 2.
The Badgers' varsity eight and varsity four earned No. 13 seeds, while the second varsity eight will enter the championships as the No. 14 seed.
UW will take part in its 16th NCAA championships, including its 14th in 15 years under head coach Bebe Bryans. UW reached the NCAAs twice in the first eight years of the event prior to Bryans hiring.

Notes to Know
- Wisconsin's 12th-straight NCAA bid is the longest active team streak for any Badger athletics program.
- The Badgers have been to the NCAA championships in 14 of 15 seasons under Head Coach Bebe Bryans after earning two bids in the previous eight seasons dating back to the first championships in 1997.
- The Badgers top NCAA result was seventh place in 2010.Wisconsin placed 15th at the 2018 NCAA Championships with the varsity eight and varsity four taking 15th and the second varsity eight placing 13th.
- California is the defending NCAA champion.
- Twenty-two teams will compete at the 2019 NCAA Division I Rowing Championships.
- Six teams from the Big Ten were selected to compete next week, including Big Ten-champion Michigan, Ohio State, Rutgers, Iowa, Indiana and the Badgers.
