Badgers kick off season at Inverness Club

MADISON, Wis. -- The Wisconsin women's golf team opens its season this Monday-Tuesday at the Glass City Invitational hosted by the University of Toledo at Inverness Club.
Here are five things to know before play begins on MondayÂ
1. Top 100 Course: The Badgers will be playing at the Inverness Club, ranked the No. 88 in the nation by Golf Digest. Located in Toledo, Ohio, it is a par 71 course and will be hosting the Solheim Cup in 2021.
2. Freshman Firsts: Emily Lauterbach will be competing with the Badgers for the first time at the Glass City Invitational. The freshman from Hartland, Wis. was the 2018 Golf Coaches Association of Wisconsin Player of the Year and was the WIAAÂ state champion in 2016.
3. Top Returners: Senior Tess Hackworthy is back for her final season. The top returner for the Badgers, she averaged 75.03 strokes per round last season. Other top returners competing at Glass City include sophomore Tracy Lee who averages 75.57 strokes and junior Claire Fitzgerald who averaged 75.70 strokes.
4. The Competition: The 13-team field will be hosted by the University of Toledo. Other teams competing include Baylor, Coastal Carolina, Florida, Furman, Illinois, Michigan, Michigan State, Northwestern, Ohio State, South Florida, Texas A&M and Wisconsin.
5. Grab Your Driver: The tournament starts on Monday morning with an 8:45 a.m. shotgun format and Tuesday will start with tee times beginning at 8 a.m.
