COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The Wisconsin women's soccer team's offense came to life on Friday in its Big Ten Conference opener, blitzing Maryland, 3-0, on Friday afternoon at Ludwig Field.
The Badgers (5-2-1, 1-0-0 Big Ten Conference) enjoyed its highest offensive output of the season while also earning their fourth shutout of the year.
UW took 1-0 lead on Maryland (4-2-2, 0-1-0 Big Ten) thanks to
Payton Wesley's first goal of the season midway through the first half. Wesley shot the ball from the right side of the box and the ball deflected into the net to put Wisconsin on the board.

Wisconsin put the game out of reach in the second half, scoring twice in the first six minutes of the final frame.
Lauren Rice scored her second of the year four minutes into the half before
Dani Rhodes tacked on her third goal of the year two minutes later.

Jordyn Bloomer stopped all four shots she faced to earn her 12th career shutout, which puts her 10th in school history.
- Rhodes's tally was her 28th career strike, which puts her one out of seventh place in school history.
