Tough schedule ahead for Badger wrestling

Wisconsin faces 13 of the nation's top teams in 2019-20

MADISON, Wis. – Thirteen teams that finished among the top 40 teams at the 2019 NCAA Championships highlight the 2019-20 Wisconsin wrestling schedule.
"I am extremely fired up about our schedule," second-year head coach Chris Bono said. "We get to showcase our program on both the east and west coasts. Our home schedule is one of the best in the country as well.Â

"I know our guys will be battle tested and ready come March! We are very excited to get the season started."

Wisconsin, which finished 21st at the 2019 NCAA Championship, opens its season on Nov. 1 at the Battle on the Midway in San Diego. The Badgers take on Army, Fresno State and Navy in this unique meet, which is held on the flight deck of the USS Midway Museum. All three teams scored at the NCAA meet last season.
UW also travels to Buffalo, Edinboro and Utah Valley before opening its Big Ten Conference season at Iowa on Dec. 1. The Hawkeyes finished fourth at the 2019 NCAA championship, one of seven Big Ten teams that wrapped up the year in the top 10.
The Badgers compete in two invitationals – the SIU Edwardsville Invitational on Dec. 7 and the Midland Championships in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, on Dec. 29-30.
Wisconsin's home season begins on Dec. 19 against Kent State in the UW Field House. UW also hosts No. 10 Nebraska on Jan. 12, No. 2 Ohio State on Jan. 17, NCAA champion Penn State on Feb. 7, No. 33 Michigan State on Feb. 16 and No. 5 Michigan on Feb. 16. The Badgers' home season wraps up on Feb. 20 against No. 13 Northern Iowa.
UW also travels to Minnesota, Indiana and Purdue for conference duals.
The 2020 Big Ten Championships will be held on March 7-8 at Rutgers University in Piscataway, New Jersey, while the 2020 NCAA Championships will be contested at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis on March 19-21.
