Badgers and Ramblers battle to 1-1 draw

Murtha scores her second in as many games for Wisconsin

CHICAGO – In their fourth-straight overtime match, the No. 16 Wisconsin women's soccer team battled to a 1-1 draw at Loyola on Thursday night.

After falling behind 1-0 in the 21st minute, the Badgers evened the game up in the 30th minute thanks to a goal from Murtha. The Badgers won a free kick in a dangerous spot and Claire Shea's delivery found Murtha for her second goal in as many games.

UW took control in the second half, outshooting the Ramblers 7-2 and 4-2 in overtime but were unable to earn their third-straight overtime win.

Notes to Know:
  • UW outshot Loyola 20-8 and did not allow a shot on goal after the Rambler's goal midway through the first half.
  • Murtha leads UW this year with a pair goals and is one of four Badgers with goals this year.
Up Next: Wisconsin returns home to host in-state rival Green Bay in a Sunday tilt in Madison. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. and fans are encouraged to allow extra time to get the McClimon Soccer Complex due to the 2019 Ironman taking place.
