MADISON, Wis. – Sophomore defenseman K'Andre Miller, selected No. 22 overall by the New York Rangers in the first round of the 2018 NHL Draft, will forego his final two years of collegiate eligibility to sign an entry-level contract with the New York Rangers, the organization announced on Monday.

The Minnetonka, Minnesota, native finishes his career with 12 goals and 40 points in 62 games at Wisconsin. He completed the 2019-20 season with seven goals and 18 points in 36 contests.

As a freshman, Miller made the 2019 All-Big Ten Honorable Mention Team and the 2019 Big Ten All-Freshman Team after posting five goals and 22 points in just 26 games after missing the last 11 due to injury. He was named UW's Mark Johnson Rookie of the Year and was a finalist for the Big Ten Rookie of the Year.

He was also named the Hockey Commissioners' Association National Rookie of the Month in October and December during his freshman campaign.

An alternate captain for Team USA at the 2020 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship this winter, he won silver with the squad in 2019. He came to Madison from the U.S. National Team Development Program.

"K'Andre has tremendous NHL talent," UW head coach Tony Granato said. "He's an elite skater at his size and will be an asset for the New York Rangers organization. We wish him all the best and will be following closely as he continues on his journey."

Miller joins freshman forward Alex Turcotte as an early departure. Turcotte agreed to terms with the Los Angeles Kings last Wednesday.
