Badgers beat the Wildcats in OT
MADISON, Wis. - Thanks to an overtime goal by forward Natalie Viggiano, the Wisconsin women's soccer team earned a thrilling 1-0 overtime win on Thursday night at the McClimon Soccer Complex.
After a scoreless first 90 minutes, the Badgers (8-3-4, 3-2-2 Big Ten) offense finally saw the back of the net in the 91st minute of the match when Natalie Viggiano scored off a Cammie Murtha assist extend their unbeaten streak over Northwestern (7-6-1, 3-3-1) to five games.
Notes to Know:
- Wisconsin totaled eight shots on goal, seven of which were saved by Northwestern goalie Mackenzie Wood.
- The Badgers also tallied 10 corner kicks while the Wildcats had 0
- UW outshot Northwestern 18-2.
- Jordyn Bloomer earned her seventh shutout of the year as the senior keeper did not face an attempt on net.
- The Badgers had 59 percent of possession during the game.
